Your chance to showcase, explore, and enjoy Tassie’s best

When Ramon Mocellin brought his beautifully restored 1974 Citroën DS 23 to Tasmania from Victoria last year, it wasn’t just about the car – it was about the journey.

This standout vehicle has made its mark on the national stage, claiming a long list of titles. But for Ramon, driving this beauty is about more than collecting trophies. His trip to Tasmania last year took him beyond the showgrounds, exploring the Automobile Museum in Launceston, soaking up the views at Binalong Bay, and making the most of Tassie’s fun, winding roads. As Ramon puts it, “Cars are meant to be driven!”

This year, he’s returning for the Motor Show and another adventure.

If you’re thinking of entering from interstate, why not turn it into more than just a show visit?

Support a fantastic event and take the opportunity to explore Tasmania’s stunning coastal drives and unforgettable countryside routes – all in one trip.

Your car deserves the spotlight, and the journey is half the fun!

Two timeless classics from the Ransley Collection

This year, we’re proud to showcase two standout vehicles from the Ransley Collection, exhibited with the support of Dale Elphinstone, the Elphinstone Group, and Wonders of Wynyard (WoW).

The Ransley Collection is one of Tasmania’s most significant private collections of veteran and vintage vehicles, originally assembled by the late Francis Ransley. Now housed at WoW, these vehicles have been preserved to ensure their legacy remains accessible for years to come.

On display at the SeaRoad Devonport Motor Show will be:

1915 V8 Cadillac

This 1915 Cadillac isn’t just a beautifully restored classic – it represents a major milestone in automotive history. While V-type 8-cylinder engines had been around for over a decade, Cadillac was the first to mass-produce a V8 engine in a standard production car. It was an overnight success, and the V8 engine has remained Cadillac’s standard power plant ever since.

Originally built as a Cadillac hearse, Francis Ransley purchased this vehicle from a Canadian collector in 1988. Despite being over a century old, it features technology you see only in today’s engines: such as a thermostatically controlled fan, automatic advance and retard, and full oil pressure.

1933 Ford V8 Roadster

Faced with declining sales in 1931, Ford set out to produce an affordable V8 engine that could rival the popular six-cylinder models. This innovation led to the 1932 Ford V8, which quickly became a market leader. By 1933, styling took centre stage, resulting in some of the most elegant and balanced bodywork ever created, with the 1933 Roadster standing out as one of the most beautiful models of the era.

This particular Roadster was purchased by Francis Ransley in 1999, continuing a restoration that had begun in the 1970s. Over the years, meticulous work went into sourcing and reconditioning an original 1933 V8 engine, refinishing body panels, and crafting the leather interior. The result is a beautifully restored classic that drives, stops, and handles superbly.
