Celebrating 60 years of Mustang magic

The first-ever Mustang was sold in April 1964. Since their launch, well over 9 million Mustangs have been sold and enjoyed around the globe.

Back in 2014, the Devonport Motor Show commemorated their highly-anticipated 50th anniversary by featuring 50 stunning Mustang cars. Over the following ten years, the Ford Mustang made headlines as the best-selling sports car worldwide. Here in Australia, they’ve been burning up the sales charts, consistently leading our sports car segment every year since 2015.

Now, in 2024, with the popularity of the new model, we’ll be celebrating 60 wonderful years of Mustang magic with not just 60 cars, but (hopefully) an unprecedented 100 Mustangs.

Can you help us reach this momentous target?

Enter your own Mustang and be a part of our 2024 Feature Marque.

Mighty muscle cars: Torana GTRs & XU1s

With Tasmania playing host in 2024 to the 5th biannual GTR & XU-1 National Owners Meeting, we’re ecstatic to showcase the largest range of these pint-sized pocket rockets at the SeaRoad Devonport Motor Show.

The 12-day owners’ driving holiday tour, established by Todd Martin, will officially kick off on the 14th of March from Devonport, and includes special visits to Richmond, Bruny Island, Four Mile Creek, and Stanley.

They’ll conclude their tour as a feature exhibit of our motor show, meaning you can get up close to fifteen of these beauties in all their glory.

Travelling from as far as Townsville in North Queensland, you’ll see all the fabulous colours of Plum Dinger, Strike Me Pink, and Salamanca Red. As a special treat, there’ll also be an unrestored LC GTR Torana, recently purchased by Rockhampton’s Steve Johnson.

Do you have a mighty muscle car of your own?

Our GTR and UX-1 entrants would love to meet you along the path of their Tasmanian tour and line up with them at the motor show.

Drysdale 750 V8 – an iconic engineering masterpiece

Developed by Melbourne engineer Ian Drysdale in 1997, this bike represents a pinnacle in motorcycle design and construction and is an important feature in Australia’s automotive history.

The Drysdale 750 V8 boasts an awe-inspiring V8 engine, Yamaha internals, and a custom crankshaft. It’s a true powerhouse, generating around 140bhp at 15,800rpm and offering a performance that matches any elite superbike of its time.

Ian’s technical prowess shines through the bike’s intricacies. Standout features include the EFI system, unique throttle setup, and innovative cooling solutions, including front-mounted radiators.

Despite its bulky V8 engine, the bike surprises riders with agile handling and precise steering, thanks to a tubular steel space frame and Öhlins suspension.

Then, as they open up the throttle, the eight cylinders produce a mesmerising, high-pitched howl reminiscent of vintage GP racers, setting it apart from other bikes and evoking a sense of nostalgia among enthusiasts.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience the legacy of the Drysdale 750 V8 – a fusion of visionary engineering brilliance and motoring excellence.

Explore, indulge, and enjoy

While the stars of the show are undoubtedly our display vehicles, we also provide a supporting cast of refreshments, entertainment, and services for this family-friendly event.

We’ll have food trucks, coffee vans, and trade displays. Plus, there’ll be a range of entertainment for kids, including rides and face painting (individual vendor charges will apply).

St Johns Ambulance will also be in attendance.

Your entry fee is destined for great things

Show entry fees in 2024 remain unchanged from the previous two years.
