2018 canceled due to inclement weather
Thunderstorms and torrential downpours forced the cancellation of the 2018 Searoad Devonport Motor Show on 25 March, causing great disappointment to the committee members, exhibitors, sponsors and everyone else involved in the event. Following a night of very heavy rain and severe winds, the committee made the call at 6.30am on the morning of the show. A massive thank you to everyone who viewed and shared our page to help get the message out there. A huge thank you also to local radio and media outlets who also made timely announcements to let people know.
Many people have since inquired as to why the show couldn’t be rescheduled to a later date in 2018. Unfortunately, due to a variety of reasons – including logistics and the availability of facilities, the show couldn’t be rescheduled. It takes 12 months of really careful planning to coordinate the availability of concept vehicles, as well as interstate exhibitors and attractions. We also deemed it unsafe to have exhibiting vehicles exposed to the wild weather and boggy conditions. This is the first time in the 12 year history of the event that we have been forced to cancel. Our committee has since met and will work hard over the coming 12 months on contingency planning for the 2019 event, including the possibility of a smaller, undercover event if the weather decides to be unkind again.
We are very excited to announce that the 2019 Devonport Motor Show will be held on Sunday 24 March!
So get this date into your diaries! We will continue to keep you updated on the event as exciting exhibits and performers are locked in.
Thanks again for all your support. We really appreciate all your feedback. If you have any ideas, comments or thoughts on the 2019 event, we’d love to hear from you – check out our facebook page or website and let us know what you think.
Massive shout out to our 2018 sponsors!
Once again, we want to say a huge thank you to all of the 2018 sponsors of the show, particularly our major sponsors, Searoad, Spirit of Tasmania and Shannons.
It was a very frustrating end to the 2018 campaign, but the support we received – and continue to receive – from our sponsors is phenomenal.
We hope to continue our relationship with you for our future events.
