Devonport Motor Show 2022 – We’re Back!

WE’RE BACK!

Following a tough couple of years for the Devonport Motor Show, we are very excited to announce that the show will be back in 2022!

Lock this date into your diaries now! – 27 March – 9am – 3pm.

And just as we had planned back in 2020, we are also moving…just down the road to Aikenhead Point – the Northern end of Victoria Parade, stretching from the Vietnam Veterans memorial carpark, and west along the foreshore to Fenton Street.

The show will also extend to the grassed area in front of the Bass Strait Maritime Centre.

COVIDSafe Planning
Our team of volunteers have spent the past 12 months preparing our COVIDSafe plan, to ensure all our patrons stay safe while visiting the show.  This will include some new innovations, such as zoning of areas to ensure social distancing parameters are met, and stringent cleaning protocols in all public areas.

2022 Feature Marque – Subaru WRX / STI

The feature marque at this year’s show will be the Subaru WRX / STI.

The Subaru WRX was the original turbo charged pocket rocket when launched in Japan in 1992.  Since then WRX has become a global phenomenon.

Do you have a WRX in your garage that you could enter in this year’s show?

New bike display

Another new attraction of the 2022 show will be a special motorbike display, focusing on the history of motorcycling in Tasmania.

We’ve formed a partnership with the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club of Tasmania Inc to showcase the evolution of the motorcycle.

The event is open to all bikes, regardless of age, brand or type, and trophies will be on offer!

We’ve already got some pretty special entries locked in.

Behold – The 1951 Vincent Black Lightning – The holy grail of motorcycling!

Those who watched a 1951 Vincent Black Lightning race in its hay-day describe it as a ‘shivers down the spine’ moment.

The Vincent Series C Black Lightning is perhaps the most coveted production motorcycle ever built. Only 19 of the bikes built are believed to still exist, and one of them will be on show at our event!

The Vincent Black Lightning was first built in September 1948 at the famous Vincent works in the United Kingdom.

The bike was a purpose-built factory modified Black Shadow (the earlier Vincent model), designed to be substantially lighter than the Black Shadow, which led to it being the fastest production motorcycle in the world – with a top race speed clocked at 150 miles per hour (241.4km/h).

You don’t want to miss the chance to see this beauty!

The Devonport Motor Show is the biggest motor show in Tasmania – you won’t see a better range of vehicles anywhere else in the State! AND – you enter the event knowing that your admission fee is going directly to charity – to improve the lives of others – so well done you!  With that in mind, our entry fees will remain the same for the 2022 show.
