The Searoad Devonport Motor Show is on this Sunday March 27!!

Thank you to the more than 450 people who have pre-entered a vehicle to date!
Pre-entries are now closed. But you can still enter on the day, you just need to pay a $10 entry fee (for each person in the vehicle) – unless they are student card holders or under 16.
The entry point on the day will be via driving down Victoria Parade towards Bass Strait or along William Street and turning into Bluff Road.
Entry hours for displaying vehicles is between 8.30 am and 10.00 am – these vehicles need to remain onsite until after the trophy presentations at 2.30 pm.
For those who have pre-entered: You will receive an email advising your vehicle number and directions for arrival on the day.

Delight your taste buds with a broad range of food and coffee vans, and then kick back, relax and listen to some rock ‘n roll from Hobart-based entertainer Big Al, and home-grown singer-songwriter Lasca Dry, of Ulverstone.There will also be miniature moving cars, laughing clowns and renowned local face painter Caro! Beautifully restored 1932 Ford 5 Window Coupe
Have you ever seen a shiner and more beautifully restored 1932 Ford 5 Window Coupe? Photo: This beautifully restored 1932 Ford 5 Window Coupe will make the trip from Melbourne to attend this year’s Devonport Motor Show. Y2K Jet bike – the world’s fastest bike! In 1999 Marine Turbine Technologies (MTT) produced the world’s most powerful production motorcycle. The Y2K became the first street-legal turbine-powered motorcycle and was recognised in 2004 as the most powerful production motorcycle ever. It was also the most expensive production motorcycle ever, with a price tag of $US184,000.
The Y2K is powered by a Rolls-Royce Allison 250-C18 gas turbine engine, producing a claimed 320bhp at 52,000 rpm, with a top speed of 227 mph.
Each unique bike was handmade to order after receiving the buyer’s specifications and offered fuel options of diesel, kerosene or Jet A combustible.
The orange Y2K pictured below raced and beat a Russian L34 jet fighter from a standing start! The jet fighter had a three-second head start but was overtaken by the bike which accelerated from a standing start to 217mph [350km/h] in 14 seconds. Now that’s fast!

EH Holdens a labour of love for Trevor
To say Devonport’s Trevor Shipton is a fan of the EH Holden would be somewhat of an understatement. He’s entered SEVEN of them into this year’s Searoad Devonport Motor Show! He is also the current president of the EH Holden Car Club of Tasmania.
Included in his collection – and on display at this year’s show are:1964 EH Holden utility in original condition1964 EH premier sedan – fully restored 1962 EK Holden sedan – restored 1966 HR premier sedan – original condition 1967 HR utility – restored HR Holden X2 premier wagons fully restored 1934 Willys 77 Roadster sedan (one of only 74 built) – 90% restored”I owned my first EH premier at the age of 19,” Trevor said.
“It was a fowlers ivory (white) with burgundy interior.”
“For all our own vehicles, I have completed the mechanical work with local expertise used for the body work.”

From the scrap heap to the Devonport Motor Show – Grant’s beloved 1968 Holden Kingswood
Check out this 1968 Holden Kingswood!
NSW-based Grant Winchester literally saved this car from the scrap heap in 2015 – plucking it from the line to be crushed to purchase it for $500.
The car had been used as a shooting rig (driven around a vast farming property as the driver exterminated feral animals) for the 20 years prior to Grant’s purchase. Grant then set about slowly upgrading it – installing a new 2:8 turbo, diesel engine, featuring a 5-speed gear box from a Toyota Hilux and 4-wheel disc brakes.
Since then, the Kingswood has thrived in it’s second life, touring the country with Grant. It’s been as far North as Birdsville in outback Queensland, and the Snowy Mountains in NSW. It will visit the Devonport Motor Show as part of its 4th tour around Tasmania.
“It’s been my daily driver for the past six years – I have owned Holdens for 40 years but this one is by far my favourite,” Grant said. DON’T FORGET OUR NEW LOCATION!
We can’t wait to show you our new home for the Motor Show! Aikenhead Point is situated at the Northern end of Victoria Parade, stretching from the Vietnam Veterans memorial carpark, and west along the foreshore to Fenton Street. This site will provide us ample space to spread out.
The show will also extend to the grassed area in front of the Bass Strait Maritime Centre.
COVIDSafe Planning
Our team of volunteers have spent the past 12 months preparing our COVIDSafe plan, to ensure all our patrons stay safe while visiting the show. This will include some new innovations, such as zoning of areas to ensure social distancing parameters are met, and stringent cleaning protocols in all public areas.
